Olivia Bean: Trivia Queen is a true champion
In OLIVIA BEAN: TRIVIA QUEEN by Donna Gephart, 12-year-old Olivia Bean used to watch Jeopardy with her dad all the time. That was until he skipped out on her and her mom with Olivia's best friend's mom. Translation--not only did she lose her dad, but also her best friend. To make things worse, Olivia is constantly pestered by her brother, she's forced to share a house with her mother's new boyfriend and the boy next door just won't leave her alone. However, when Olivia discovers that Jeopardy is looking for kid contestants, Olivia sees the opportunity to reunite with her father as she'll be flown to California.
Olivia's life is pretty complicated, but many kids' lives are these days, which is why I think many young readers will relate to Olivia. Many times, kids seek the approval of their parents and when you're smack dab in the middle of a divorce, things can get difficult. However, OLIVIA BEAN: TRIVIA QUEEN proves that despite difficulties, friendship and family will prevail--almost as if winning the final round of Jeopardy!
