A counting book for any dog lover

Ten Little Puppies/Diez perritosAlma Flor Ada has brought us many wonderful bilingual children's books and she continues her streak with Ten Little Puppies/Diez perritos

This is a fun counting book adapted from a traditional nursery rhyme in Spanish. As you can imagine, the book begins with Ten Little Puppies and young readers can count along as each of the ten adorable puppies disappears from the pages.

Of the six pups that were left,
Of the six pups that were left,
One ran off with a hop, a skip, and a dive,
So now there are only five,
Five, five, five, five, five.

You can read along in English or Spanish, but I can definitely see families turning this into a song and singing along together. The illustrations by Ulises Wensell are so much fun and the end of the book offers a description of the different puppies featured in the book. A must have for any dog lover.
