Gilbert the opossum is back and this time, he's celebrating Earth Day in Ants in Your Pants, Worms in Your Plants!: (Gilbert Goes Green) (Gilbert and Friends).
One day, Gilbert's teacher, Mrs. Byrd decides to have a picnic outside for lunch. But when they get to the top of a hill, they realize it's not shady or green, but quite a mess. After they lend a hand and clean up, Mrs. Byrd gets her students thinking of ways they can help our planet and assigns an Earth Day project. However, Gilbert's not very good coming up with ideas. Everyone else in his class knows just what they're going to do, but Gilbert wants to come up with a project that nobody else is doing. As Gilbert is about to take a nap, he realizes the idea was right in front of him the whole time!
This is the perfect book for Earth Day or any day you'd like to teach your young readers about going green. Young readers will discover so many different ways they can help our planet, from riding our bikes to school to hanging laundry on a clothesline. Not only do the lively illustrations make for a fun read, but we're reminded that it's okay to have ants in your pants and worms in your plants!
